We don't have much time to plan the trip and we have never been to Hawaii before, so any advice or tips or info would be so helpful! Even if you have never left me comments before, I don't care, any info would be much appreciated!We are thinking of staying in Waikiki. There are TONS of hotels there so how do you choose one? And it seems like they all make you pay for parking....what's up with that?
We need help deciding on a hotel. What hotels have you stayed at that you liked/disliked and why? And what kid-friendly activities do you recommend or not recommend? What are some good restaurants that we HAVE to try? Of course we want to spend some time on the beach, but really, we have gorgeous beaches here too. So I think we are more interested in lounging by the pool, so there is shade for Miles, and sightseeing. Where are some spots that we have to see? Or if you know of any websites that are helpful or give reviews. I was on tripadvisor.com and got so tired of reading reviews over and over again. So I am done with that website! Instead, I am asking you for help :) So readers, it's up to you now!!

How fun! I must say that most the times I have gone, we've decided not to rent a car because of the parking and traffic issues. But then again, I've never taken kids...
My very favorite place to stay is the Waikiki on the Beach. I believe that's what it's called. The beach is right across the street, it's close to everything and they have an awesome free breakfast, pool, and often times live music playing out by the pool. Oh man can I come with you?!
i have stayed at the marriot on Waikiki beach. Parking is a nightmare, but if you want to go visit other places (waimaia, PCC, you have to have one) Waikiki is beautiful, but SO crowded! Honestly, I had a better time when we stayed in a cabin on the beach at Bellows AFB because their beaches were gorgeous, and deserted!
I only wish I had advice to give you in that area! But I would love to hear ALL about it when you get back so I can plan my own trip one day. Have fun! How far is Hawaii from you guys?
Hello Pines, remember us?! I went to school at BYU-Hawaii for a little while, so I know some of the good spots. The north shore is way less crowded, so that would be over by Turtle Bay, the PCC, and the school. Beautiful beaches and a more family friendly environment (not so many drunk people, more clothing, etc...) One thing that your kids would probably love is the Dole pineapple plantation. If I remember right, they had a little kids train and a pineapple maze and yummy pineapple ice cream. One thing not to miss would be Pearl Harbor. Thats amazing. Hope you have so much fun!! I miss it there!
I wish I could give you advice of where to go and stay . . . Someday we will get to go to that beautiful place. Sounds like a lot of fun though.
Oahu is so much fun! Daniel's parents just went two weeks ago and stayed at Turtle Bay. They said the pool was awesome and it was just a great hotel. Definitely go to the Polynesian Cultural Center. Rian would love all the interactive stuff and I think (if I remember correctly) they have a tram to the Temple so you can walk the grounds. Also, if you guys are in SD anytime soon we will be there sometime in April. It will be after the 16th because that is after Daniel presents his masters thesis to a panel. Hope you guys are doing well! You have such a beautiful family(what cute kids)!
so...it might be too late for this advice, but depending on time, money and availability there are these beach houses on the marine base. i'm sure you can look it up on the mwr website for the marine base. also, that beach on the marine base was very very pretty. no shade so maybe not for hanging out on but the sand is super soft and it's just different than guam...can't really describe it. kaneohe bay is gorgeous, just the drive on the highway from hickham to the marine corps base is a must do.
I've never been to Hawaii but I have a friend that grew up there. I'll send her your way...
